Mid Unit 1 Post

I plan on looking at http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/ for my rhetorical analysis piece. Rhetorical Analysis is the breakdown of different strategies and choices made by an author accompanied by an explanation of how these different strategies and choices work together to make the piece what it is. In this analysis you will see me breakdown the topics chosen, and the overall layout of the page.

In terms of intellectual standards as set by NC State University, the two most accurately depicted by this blog are depth and relevance. It covers important topics and not just for face value, instead of solely reporting on medicine and doctors for their face value, it goes into detail about some faults, specifically I plan to talk about the article that covers the way in which doctors behave. Relevance seems to be a second nature to this site and inherent because as a blog about wellness and medicine one would assume that the articles are related to such and they indeed are. It covers all topics and has interactive elements in which the readers can test their knowledge that was either obtained prior to discovering the site or learned from time spent on the site. My background knowledge to this topic is that I am currently planning on pursuing a career in medicine and it has always been a huge interest and passion of mine. I have taken multiple AP and general courses that cover similar material on a more basic level. This gives me to ability to attest to the simpler facts for their accuracy and possibly add more information and
clarity into choices made by the authors in terms of omissions of certain things and why they chose to right about a specific topic.

In the end I hope to learn a multitude of new things about medicine and the life of a doctor, both the bad and the good. Also this site contains many different interesting articles that can help me to gain just some more general knowledge on new advancements or discoveries in the world of medicine and health. All in all I hope that through reading the different posts I can better myself as a person and become the best doctor that I can be.
